Simple DIY Valentine’s Day Decor- Wooden Vase Holder

I can’t believe January is nearly gone. Time flies, and Valentine’s day, is just around the corner. Since I haven’t been feeling well for the past couple of weeks, I haven’t made any DIY Valentine’s day decor projects I wanted. I decided to use the wooden vase holder I made last year and turn it into Valentine’s day decor.

This quick project is very easy to make, and you can find the full instructions and all the steps here. All you need is a couple of pallet boards and four bottles.

Then add some decor bits like LED fairy lights, faux flowers of your choice, and red glass marbles. You can find the full list of materials and tools below.

This project is very versatile, and you can use whatever you have at hand. Pallet boards or any other wood/reclaimed wood is fine. Then you can use wine bottles or flower vases. Again anything you want.

I decided to keep the fake snow from the Christmas project and add the red marbles on top. You can use more marbles than me to make them more visible, or you can even use the marbles in water and use fresh flowers.

The water beads are an amazing alternative as well. And cheap too. A $6 pack will produce around 20000 beads that you can use inside the bottles or vases.

The led lights are usually waterproof, and they can be used in water. Just make sure they are so they won’t break. 

You can use any color marble, like clear or white, and then use red lights. The possibilities are endless.

You can use pale-colored flowers/marbles like pale rose or cream for a more rustic look or pale blues, greens, or turquoise for a more beachy look.

How To Make DIY Valentine’s Day Decor- Wooden Vase Holder

First, you need to sand the board and cut them to size. You need two longer boards for the top and bottom and two short ones for the sides.

Then make four holes in the top board using a drill saw bit. Make sure the size you use is big enough for the necks of the bottles to go through.

The next step is staining or painting. You can use a stain of your choice. I used a homemade aging stain mix using steel wool and vinegar.

Once the wood is stained, you need to seal it with a sealer of your choice. I used a flat matte water-based poly spray for chalk paint from Aldi. 

The next step is to put the box together. I used screws for the bottom, and the top is held with a couple of magnets. But you can leave it loose so the bottles can be replaced/washed, or you can change the water in them if using fresh flowers.

The next step is to put all the decor bits together. As I said before, I decided to keep the fake snow in the bottles. You can simply put more marbles in. I used 50 marbles per bottle.

Using the water beads is even more cost-efficient. A small pack produces a lot of beads, and you can fill the bottles to the top with them. Various colors are available as well. Just soak the beads in the water overnight, and voila, they are ready to use.

Then I put the red marbles in and the led lights as well. Then the roses went in, and that’s it. You can wrap some of the light string around the flowers and hide the switch in the flower buds.

Super easy and looks fantastic. You can keep it on the mantelpiece or as a table centerpiece.
