Picture in a Mason Jar

This idea, which I’ve found on the August and After site, is very, very simple and fast to make. You can use it instead of traditional picture frames.

All you need is your favorite photo of the two of you or just you 🙂 a mason jar and vegetable oil. Yes, you’ve read that right, veggie oil. Put the photo in the jar, pour the oil, close the lid, and that’s it! Simple.

You can use black-and-white images and experiment with different oil shades. It could be a great centerpiece decoration for a wedding as well.

Date Night in a Jar

Every couple knows how a routine can be deadly for any relationship. After the honeymoon phase, nothing is as exciting as it was at the beginning.

Especially when you live together and/or have a family. This one is great for times when you run out of date night ideas.

So how is it done? You’ll need some materials like:

First of all, you need to come up with some ideas for the dates. These can vary. From stay-at-home, free, cheap, or affordable to expensive and requires planning. You can also plan for the seasons: Fall/Halloween, Winter/Christmas. You can find all of them to inspire you over at Tastefully Eclectic.

Once you have your ideas, you just need to decorate your mason jar, paint the popsicle sticks, and write the date ideas on them. Put them in the jar and pick one whenever you need inspiration!

Diy Beard Oil

If your man has a beard as mine does, he’ll very much appreciate this Valentine’s Day gift. It’ll be even more special when you make it yourself. It’s a great way to make sure what ingredients are used, and it’s a lot cheaper than a store-bought one too!

You’ll need an amber glass bottle with a dropper. Make sure you use an amber glass or blue glass bottle because the essential oils don’t like sun exposure.

The choice of essential oil is a personal preference. Mind that it has to be something your man likes the smell of. This recipe I’ve found on Retro Housewife Goes green.

It uses lime essential oil and apricot oil as a base. It makes the beard soft and apparently helps with itching as well. My advice is to research a bit more about the essential oils that you can use and how to use them.

Mix the oils and pour them into the bottle. You can make a DIY label as well.

Faux Slay Coasters

coasters with love written on it, heart and XO and roses on the side

These coasters are easy to make and look like the real thing. I’m sure your man will like them a lot. You can decorate them for Valentine’s as well or leave them as they are.

You’ll need the following materials and tools:

Materials :

Tools:

The instructions are for the coasters.

Cut the board for the coasters. Then using a sander, smooth them out. To create that slay edge look, secure the piece with a clamp. The edges must be overhanging the edge of the table, and press the sander base against the edge at the angle. Repeat for all the sides.

That’s it. Your coasters are pretty much ready. Paint them with chalk paint. I’d seal them as well with a waterproof topcoat, but make sure it’s not shiny. For full instructions on making the holder and decorating the slates, go to the Build-Basic article.

Cool Leather Bracelet

3 leather cuffs on a stick

If your man is a fan of jewelry, I’m sure he’ll love this gift.

The first idea(which comes from The Sway blog) uses leather belts that you can upcycle. Yay! The bracelet is like cuff style one. So basically, you turn a leather belt into a cuff-style bracelet 🙂

You’ll need:

Tip. Pay attention to the thickness of the belt as the snaps come in different sizes and lengths. You want to make sure that the snap will go all the way through the leather.

Measure your man’s wrist and add 1.5 inches. Cut the belt to size from the end, not the buckle.

Attach the snap following the instructions, and that’s it.

3 men leather bracelets for men on top of an open book

The next idea for a bracelet is a bit different and modern. I’ve found it on Curly Made blog. It’s not an upcycling project, but you make it yourself from scratch. You can choose from 3 different styles. Have a look at the video below.

Wooden Slab Charging Stand

This gift idea requires more DIY knowledge about working with wood and power tools. It might not be for everyone, but if you feel confident is well worth a try. I bet your loved one will be over the moon 🙂

Tools & Materials:

I won’t be going into too much detail here as the process is thoroughly explained over at Man Made DIY. As I said, it does require some skills, but the end result is fantastic!

Homemade Shaving Cream

I showed you a gift idea for the bearded men above, so this time, something for clean-shaven ones. 🙂 It’s perfect for achieving a smooth, razor burn free face, and you know exactly what you put in it, so no nasty surprises here. The idea comes from the Food For My Family blog.

Tip 1. Always test on a small patch of skin first (and preferably your other half’s as well). Mostly because some people are sensitive to essential oils, and you want to avoid a nasty skin reaction.

You’ll need:

Tip 2. You can use refined coconut oil if you don’t like the coconut scent. But it won’t have all the precious ingredients found in virgin coconut oil that are extremely good for you.

Tip 3. Use any essential oils that think your man would like the smell of. The ones above are just an example.

In the pan over low heat, melt the coconut oil and shea butter. Once fully combined, transfer the mixture to a bowl and add jojoba/almond oil together with essential oils.

Let it cool down and solidify(refrigerate if necessary), and then, using an electric mixer, whip it up until fluffy and creamy. Put it in a nice jar like a Fido jar.
